Furniture to Last a Lifetime
You have put your house on the market and while it is waiting to be sold you start hunting for your new home.
You probably have some definite ideas on the type of house you want, how many reception rooms etc. When moving from a smaller house extra space could be your aim in the new one, everyone wants to go forward so bigger is better in most eyes.
Your new home may have an extra reception room and an extra bedroom so apart from buying a new house you will also have to buy new furniture to fill it.
Your choice of furniture could be to stay with the style of furniture you already have in your old home, but how exciting would it be to make the decision to change your image and furnish these two extra rooms to a completely different style.
If your preferences run to modern furniture then take your time and plan what you would like and how you want it to look. Do not rush out and buy the first thing that catches your eye without working out how the whole room will look completely furnished with the same style of furniture.
If the money is available buy good furniture that will last a lifetime, in years to come your grand children or great grand children will thank you for your good sense in buying furniture that by then will be entering the antique era.
Of course most people will not think like that, after all the furniture and furnishings are for your own enjoyment and not for future generations that you may never meet. But imagine what it would be like if all the old furniture from bygone years had gone to the scrapheap!
We would be a poorer nation without our antiques that bring the past to life.
Remember the old saying “Your Home is your Castle” well you may not own a castle but to you, your own home is just as important as any castle and when you furnish it you will feel the same pride as those that went before you when furnishing their castles.
